Volunteers serving hot soup for ill and homeless in community charity donation center, food bank and coronavirus concept.

Sadly, more than 116,000 Australians are homeless today.

Here in South Brisbane, we are fortunate to have wonderful local organisations to care for the homeless and vulnerable members of our community.

The Emmanuel City Mission located in Merivale Street South Brisbane was created as a volunteer, street-based outreach service bringing hope and healing to the lives of people who need it most.

Every day the mission opens its doors and care for the neediest people of our city, creating a space where they can feel safe, cared for and valued. Simply put, their mission is to connect homeless and vulnerable people with people who care, increasing trust and decreasing loneliness.

Within the Southpoint family, our security guards have come to rely on Emmanuel City Mission as a safe haven they can connect vulnerable homeless people sleeping rough around the centre with, trusting they’ll receive quality care and assistance to locate a safe bed.

In an average week, the mission provides 600 hot meals, 150 shower/toiletry packs, 100 loads of washing and unlimited conversations. The Mission aims to provide a pathway off the street into safe accommodation, an essential step for a more secure future.

It costs approximately $1000 per day to open the Mission’s doors and provide the essential services required. At the heart of this essential organisation is a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters.

Donate now or get involved. Your support makes a difference and allows Emmanuel City Mission to continue its vital work.
